She beat competition from entrants from across the globe and has now been tipped by Same Difference as having a “massive career” ahead of her.

Miranda took first prize in the inaugural Sing2Win competition, organised by magazine What’s On TV.

Same Difference siblings Sarah and Sean Smith said: “Of the 10 finalists, Miranda is the most likely to have a pop career. Simon Cowell would definitely sign her.

"When she's 14, I think she'd get through to The X Factor finals."

Sing2Win is an online singing competition in which members of the public posted videos of themselves on YouTube singing pop songs.

Miranda, a pupil at St Bede’s High School in Blackburn, sang a version of Sam Brown's Stop.

Her dad John said his daughter, who was crowned the 2006 junior winner of The Mall Stars at Blackburn, is keeping her feet on the ground.

He said: “She has very big dreams and really wants to make it as a singer. This competition has given her a great boost but she is still young and knows she has a long way to go yet.

“The competition had entrants from across the world so to win is a great achievement and a big surprise.

“To hear such great feedback from Same Difference means a lot because they are in the music business and know what it is like to get a record deal.”

He said that in the future Miranda has her eyes on entering X Factor but she may wait until she is older.
