A 28-year-old woman bombarded her former ‘mother-in-law’ with late-night phone calls after the relationship with her son broke down.

Blackburn magistrates heard Michelle Cowell continued making the calls even after police had given her an official warning.

And they heard that shortly after the relationship ended Cowell had been given a caution for damaging a car belonging to her ex-partner’s mother.

Cowell, of St Oswald’s Road, Knuzden, pleaded guilty to harassing Tracey Adams. She was remanded on bail for eports.

David Rigg, prosecuting, said that since the breakdown of the relationship Cowell had limited access to the two children for her ex-partner and his parents. During one phone call she taunted Mrs Adams that her parents saw them all the time.

After a warning from the police the calls stopped for a couple of weeksbut then they resumed.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said it was not all “one way traffic.”

“In the breakdown of a relationship there is going to be debris,” he said. “People’s feelings are hurt and there is a lot of emotion. My client wants to draw a line under what has happened.”
