A CONSULTATION over four under-threat phone boxes in Burnley has ended.
Now BT bosses will decide whether the phones, in Red Lees Road at Mereclough, Accrington Road at Hapton, Manchester Road close to the junction of Calderbrook Avenue and Rossendale Road near Harold Avenue, will be axed.
Burnley Council planning officers have told BT they have no problem with the Red Lees Road and Accrington Road boxes being scrapped.
But they are fighting the removal of the other two, saying they are close to social housing where people are less likely to have a home phone or a mobile.
BT said boxes not contested were likely to be removed soon.
