FARMERS turned out in force for the September dairy show and sale at Gisburn Auction Mart.
Almost 50 cattle were on offer and the top priced entry came from Messrs Whitwell and Sons. Selling for £2,100, the newly-calved heifer went to H A Bradley, of Salterforth.
Other newly-calved heifers from the Whitwell family went for £1,730 and £1,660 to Frank Wrathall, Gisburn and GH Speak, Eccleston.
Newly-calved heifers averaged £1,541, newly-calved cows, £1,496, heifer stirks, £810 and heifer calves, £370.
