REPRESENTATIVES of Darwen-based m-tec, part of the WEC Group, will be present at the official opening of the Bristol Temple Quay today.

The specialist architectural metal working company were chosen to create a 60-metre stainless steel bridge, which forms the centrepiece of the structure.

Steve Hartley, managing director of WEC, and Tom Elliot who secured the business, are both attending the opening.

The bridge was made in eight sections and delivered to the site where it was constructed and installed using one of the largest cranes in Europe.

It was lowered into place in August.

The bridge will link the harbour to the city centre for pedestrians and cyclists as well as offering direct access between the city centre and Temple Meads station.
