A CHILD sex attacker who targeted his victim through bluetooth technology has been jailed for three years and two months.

Paul Taylor, 40, of of Slaidburn Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to eight charges of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one of meeting a child following sexual grooming.

He was jailed at Bolton Crown Court today.

Police said Taylor first contacted his 15-year-old victim via a speculative search on a Bluetooth-enabled phone and told her he was 17.

Bluetooth allows people to contact other mobile phones nearby without having their numbers.

She became unnerved when he said he knew the name of her school and said he could see her.

When she turned round she saw him waving at her. They spoke and he admitted his real age and she walked away.

But he repeatedly phoned and sent text messages to her and shortly after they first met he began a sexual relationship her.

Taylor has now been required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and is subject to a Sex Offenders Prevention Order indefinitely with conditions not to associate with children under 16, apart from members of his own family.

At Taylor’s home, three mobile phones, a handwritten lists of girls' names and numbers, and ladies’ underwear were found, as well as a bag of presents addressed to his 15-year-old victim.

After the case, Detective Constable Andy Livesey of Bolton Child Protection Unit, said: "Taylor is a menace who was preying on young girls "He represents a clear danger to young girls and I am glad he has been taken off the streets.”
