A POLICE officer watching the house where a suspected major drug dealer was said to be operating told a jury he did not see him there.

Detective Constable Stuart Livingstone said he saw a man named Kevin Barsky visit the house on Springhill Road, Oswaldtwistle, on several occasions and on one occasion he was seen leaving with a carrier bag.

Mumtaz Khan, 51, is alleged to be involved in the sales of drugs in the town and to be “high up” the supply chain.

He is said to have provided Barsky with amphetamine which was then sold to undercover police, Burnley Crown Court has been told.

The court had heard how Khan had a large amount of the drug stashed away at his home when police searched it.

Three undercover officers had been based in Oswaldtwistle trying to catch dealers out and had used video and audio equipment.

When the defendant was arrested, he denied being involved in drugs supply and made no comment when charged.

Khan, of Springhill Road, denies being concerned in making an offer to supply 595 grams of amphetamine on September 20 2005, being concerned in supplying 508 grams of the drug on September 30, and possessing 531 grams of amphetamine with intent to supply on April 19 2006.
