AN EARLY morning fire which began in bins at a Rishton supermarket spread to the roof of the building.
Two fire crews were called to the High Street Co-Op after a blaze took hold at 4.09am on Saturday.
The fire had spread to the roof space of the building and caused damage to plastic shelving, two square metres of roof timber and damaged a telegraph pole.
The blaze also damaged 15 industrial trolleys and part of the property next door was affected. Resident Steve Heyes captured the fire on camera. He said: “My house faces the back of the Co-Op and I was woken up to the sound of things exploding.
“I rang the fire service and they arrived very quickly.” The Co-op was open yesterday.
