Radio presenter Zoe Ball says her car was punched by a cyclist during a "violent" road incident.

The 55-year-old said the incident happened in London while she was driving, describing the encounter as "absolute carnage".

Speaking on the November 5 episode of her podcast Dig It, Ms Ball said: "I had a cyclist punch my car window in London the other day.

"I’ve had a rant about it – cyclists cycling around the car, not stopping at lights, coming every which way at you.

"It makes it so difficult as a driver in London and I am vigilant and I am really aware but I had people on one side, people on the other side, cars coming out.

"This guy, he could see I was slowing down, he could see I was moving over and he punched my windscreen."

Her co-host Jo Whiley described the act as "violent" and "violating".

Ms Ball, who has roots in Bolton, with her dad Johnny Ball, growing up in the borough, agreed, replying: "It’s really violent.

"I was like, 'mate, can you see what’s happening either side of me?

"You can see the car. Just slow down.'"

She then called for greater calm on the roads.

Ms Ball said: "Everyone chill out.

"Everyone slow down a little bit for God’s sake."

Back in September, Ms Ball launched her new show on Greatest Hits Radio after leaving the BBC.

As host of Zoe Ball in the Afternoon, the DJ is on air every weekday from 1pm to 4pm after taking over from Kate Thornton.

Ms Ball's show has big guests, listener chats, plus special features including Something for the Weekend every Friday.

Alongside her weekday show, Ms Ball continues to co-host the chart-topping Dig It podcast with Jo Whiley.
