Christmas lights, markets and live music are set to bring festive cheer to towns across Rossendale.

Events will take place between November 27 and December 5 in Bacup, Haslingden, Rawtenstall, and Waterfoot, with Rossendale Borough Council organising and funding the celebrations.

Each town will host its own Christmas light switch-on and festive market, with entertainment including appearances from Father Christmas, the Grinch, the Snow Sisters, Rossendale Radio, and a range of live performers.

Cllr Alyson Barnes, leader of Rossendale Borough Council, said: "It's great to be able to bring Christmas celebrations to towns across Rossendale and give residents the opportunity to enjoy some festive events in their local communities.

"I know it’s been a challenging time for some of our local businesses, and now more than ever, the support of local people and visitors can make a real difference.

"Our town centres have so much to offer, from independent shops and cafes to market traders, and I hope the events will encourage more people to come along and discover what’s on their doorstep."

The Rawtenstall event will open the programme, followed by a Winter Wonderland in Waterfoot on November 29.

Haslingden will host its switch-on on December 4, with the final event taking place in Bacup on December 5.

A DJ, festive grotto, market stalls, and live music are promised, with performances from singers Lareena and Saskia.

Rossendale Borough Council is encouraging residents to attend, enjoy the festivities, and support local businesses, traders, and community groups.
