A 72-year-old man has been charged after nurses at an NHS facility in Lytham allegedly received racially abusive comments.

Fylde Police said officers were called on March 8 after nurses reported that a patient had used racially abusive comments and language towards members of staff.

Officers attended the facility and arrested a man in his 70s.

Police have now confirmed that Michael Robert Mason, 72, of Alderville Close, Warton, has been charged with a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence of intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

He is due to appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on November 20.
