A Rossendale park has been awarded gold in the Britain in Bloom awards for the third year running.

Stubbylee and Moorlands Park in Bacup received the top honour in the Large Parks category at this year’s awards.

The award was presented at a ceremony held at Toughsheet Stadium in Bolton.

Andrew Walmsley, deputy leader of Rossendale Council and a Bacup Pride volunteer, said: "This is fantastic news and a brilliant achievement for Stubbylee and Moorlands Park.

"Winning Gold for the third year running is something we should all be incredibly proud of.

"Our parks take a huge amount of care and dedication to maintain, and this award recognises all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep them looking their best, support local wildlife and create welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.

"I'd like to thank our Green Spaces Team, Bacup Pride, Friends of Stubbylee Park, and everyone who gives their time to support the park.

"It’s great to see their hard work and commitment recognised once again."

The Britain in Bloom award recognises the park’s high standards of care, maintenance and environmental management, as well as the contributions of volunteers and community groups.

Councillor Walmsley also highlighted the value of community involvement: "It’s great to see their hard work and commitment recognised once again."

Stubbylee and Moorlands Park is a much-loved green space in Bacup, providing a place for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with family and friends and connect with nature.

The park is supported by groups including Bacup Pride and Friends of Stubbylee Park, who help through volunteering and community events.
