Adultery is a six-part series written by BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst.

It first aired in October and was filmed in Darwen and Hoddlesden, with production crews spotted in the area during November and December.

Dominic Cooper stars alongside Romola Garai in the drama, which tells the story of a passionate affair that threatens to unravel the lives of two families.

Production activity was concentrated around Bank Street and Church Bank Street in Darwen.

Joe Davies, a resident who witnessed the filming, shared a photo of what appeared to be actress Romola Garai outside The Bridgewater Pub in Darwen, in November.

Michelle Richards also snapped a picture of film crews in hi-vis jackets working around Darwen.

Adultery follows Tom Kirkman and Beth Brookes, whose affair puts both families at risk while exploring themes of class, grief, and the impact of social media.

The cast includes Shelley Conn, Matthew McNulty, Andrew Knott, James Murray, and Charley Webb.

Polly Hill, director of drama at ITV, said: "Danny’s brilliant scripts will have an audience hooked into this adulterous story from the start.

"At its heart though it’s about love, and I’m excited to have an addictive love story on ITV, and to be working with Danny and Ben and the team at Poison Pen Studios."
