A Ramsbottom man who admitted causing serious injury to a woman before driving away from the scene is due to be sentenced at Crown Court.

Christopher Mather, 50, of Callender Street, Ramsbottom, is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court on January 12 after admitting a series of offences linked to a dangerous driving incident in October.

Court records show Mather indicated a guilty plea to causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a collision in which a woman suffered a fractured knuckle.

The charge states that Mather caused serious injury to the victim by dangerously driving a black Vauxhall Zafira on Turks Road, Radcliffe, on October 3, 2026.

He also admitted failing to stop after a road accident in relation to the same incident.

Court documents allege he drove away despite the woman having been injured.

The court records show the incident formed part of a wider sequence of offending that day.

Mather also pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a collision on Newbold Street, Bury, which caused significant damage to a silver Toyota Yaris, and to failing to stop after a crash on Wellington Street which damaged a police Ford Focus.

In addition, he admitted driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop when directed by a police officer and failing to co-operate with a preliminary drug wipe test.

The case was committed to the Crown Court for sentencing following the guilty pleas.

Mather was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on January 12.
