A man has been charged as police investigate an alleged vehicle offence in Accrington.

Police have been investigating reports of a stolen car which was reportedly taken from an address in Accrington in July.

It was found four days later in Blackburn, police have said.

Ashley Spencer, 20, of Russell Terrace in Padiham, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

A police spokesperson said: "You might have seen our earlier post about a man being arrested in Accrington for vehicle offences yesterday.

"It related to an incident back in July when a car was [allegedly] stolen from outside an address in Accrington and was found four days later in Blackburn.

"Enquiries had been ongoing since, and we can now share with you that Ashley Spencer, 20, of Russell Terrace in Padiham, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent.

"He has been remanded to custody and will appear at Blackburn Magistrates' Court in November. As this is now an active investigation, we have turned the comments off on this post."
