Poppy Appeal hubs have opened in Blackburn and Darwen as the Royal British Legion’s annual fundraising campaign gets underway.

The Blackburn hub opened at 2.30pm on Friday (October 23) at Unit 144, Victoria Court, The Mall, followed by the Darwen hub at Darwen Market at 3.30pm.

The hubs will support this year’s Poppy Appeal, which was launched nationally on Thursday, October 22. The annual campaign, which began in 1921, raises money to support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

This year, the Royal British Legion is highlighting the challenges and sacrifices faced by Armed Forces families, including periods of separation, financial hardship and bereavement.

The charity is aiming to raise more than £50 million through the 2026 appeal.

Remembrance Sunday falls on November 8 this year, with Armistice Day following on November 11.
