An investigation is underway after dead fish were found in a stream running through a Barnoldswick park.
The incident was reported on October 21 in a beck at Victory Park, where numerous fish were seen dead in the water.
The Environment Agency confirmed it is looking into the cause. A spokesperson confirmed several fish had died but said initial readings showed "normal oxygen levels"
Richard Whiteley shared pictures of dead fish in the water.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Our officers responded first thing this morning to reports of fish in distress and proceeded to investigate possible causes and take water quality readings.
"We found that several fish had died and our initial readings showed normal oxygen levels.
"We are working with partner organisations in the area to establish and stop any root causes."
Barnoldswick town councillor Leanne Barrett said the town council is aware of the incident and is investigating.
She said: "Thank you to everyone who has raised concerns about the fish in the river at Victory Park.
"It’s genuinely heartening to see how much our community cares about our wonderful local environment.
"The Environment Agency has been out testing the water and walked both upstream and downstream, but so far they haven’t been able to identify the cause.
"We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has taken the time to report this and look out for our shared environment. It’s this kind of community spirit and care that makes our area so special.
"The Environment Agency has asked that if anyone notices anything similar again, please report it to them or to BTC so that it can be investigated promptly and action taken as quickly as possible, as it has been today.
