A paraglider crash prompted a rescue effort from the Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team on moorland.
The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to the incident near Owd Betts.
However, before the team could arrive, a member of the public managed to get the casualty to a nearby ambulance.
The mountain rescue team has since issued a statement advising the public to exercise caution in similar situations.
A spokesperson said: "Whilst we thank the member of public for their help, high-impact accidents like paraglider crashes often result in high-impact injuries and not all injuries are obvious, requiring specialist skills and equipment to safely extricate casualties.
"We fully appreciate the urgency but would always recommend the public call us and sit tight, be it the casualty themselves or someone that’s come across an injured person(s)."
Other incidents the team responded to included a search for a missing person, who was thankfully found well by police shortly after their call.
In another incident, the team was called to Healey Dell nature reserve in Rochdale following welfare concerns for someone around the viaduct.
The team also attended to an ankle injury at Greenbooth Reservoir, near Norden, Rochdale.
They provided initial first aid and assessment before splinting the ankle injury and warming the casualty.
The NWAS provided further pain relief, and the casualty was then wheeled to an awaiting ambulance.
On October 19, the team was also called to Lee Mill Quarry near Bacup to assist an 11-year-old boy who had suspected rib and spinal injuries following a biking accident.
