A man who struggled to accept the end of his affair with a married woman ended up stalking her.

Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard that at one stage Mohammed Khan threatened to reveal their affair to the woman's husband unless she took up with him again.

Khan, 48, of Wigan Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stalking the victim at her place of work in Blackburn.

He was made subject to a community order for 18 months with probation requirements including the Building Better Choices programme.

He was made subject to a restraining order for five years, which prohibits him from having any contact with his former lover.

Safia Hussain, prosecuting, said the aggrieved had ended the relationship in July and told him she didn't want any contact with him.

"Following this she received a large number of phone calls and messages," said Miss Hussain.

"On several occasions he turned up at her place of work.

"On one, when she told him to leave, he said he would tell her husband about the affair."

Miss Hussain said on another occasion the woman was leaving Morrisons when she saw him driving past in his car, and a few days later he again attended her office.

Miss Hussain said the victim said she felt anxious about what would happen next and she was embarrassed that her work colleagues had to get involved.

Jane Novas-Morrell, mitigating, said her client had complied with bail conditions, and there had been no further contact since the offence in July.

"He struggled with the end of the relationship," said Miss Novas-Morrell.
