Two men have been sentenced to almost 10 years in prison after being found guilty of possessing heroin and cocaine.

Abid Ashraf, 48, of Barkerhouse Road, Nelson, was sentenced to five years and seven months, and Amir Shah, 29, of Valley Close, Nelson was sentenced to four years, when they appeared at Burnley Crown Court.

The two were arrested after a warrant was carried out at an address in Regent Street, Nelson, in June.

Inside the property, officers found what they suspected were Class A drugs and scales, and some cash was also seized.

Sergeant Carl McCoy said: “The supply and use of Class A controlled drugs brings criminality and misery to our communities.

"We take all reports of drug-dealing seriously and will investigate thoroughly so that offenders will face justice.”
