A jury has been unable to reach a verdict in the trial of a man accused of rape and other sexual offences.

Christopher Robinson, 62, of Gisburn Old Road, Blacko, stood trial at Burnley Crown Court accused of rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault.

The jury was directed that the judge would accept a majority verdict in the case, but it was said that even if more time was granted they would not be able to agree.

A mention hearing was listed for October 29, by which point a decision on whether the prosecution will seek a re-trial should be made.

Robinson denied the alleged offences throughout.
