People from across Lancashire are being invited to enter this year's Blackburn 10K run.

This year's event will take place on Sunday, December 6, with the race starting and finishing at Ewood Park beginning at 9.30am.

The run is organised in partnership with RunThrough and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.

Thousands of runners have participated in the Blackburn 10K in recent years, and the route takes you past local landmarks including Wainwright Bridge, Blackburn Cathedral and King George’s Hall.

The 2026 instalment of the Blackburn 10K will be the seventh time that Blackburn Rovers Community Trust has played an integral part in the event. In addition to the 10K, a junior race will also take place at Ewood Park around the perimeter of the pitch.

Also this year, “Rovers Runners” will return with 40 spaces available to join the Community Trust’s popular running group.

To become a Rovers Runner, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust requires your support to raise money for the charity's Christmas Toy Appeal.

The opportunity is ideal for anyone who is looking to combine their passion for Blackburn Rovers Football Club and running, all for a good cause by supporting the community the charity serves.

The Rovers Runners group first ran the Blackburn 10K in 2024 and have since raised thousands of pounds for Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, which delivers 46 inspiring programmes and projects to residents in our community across health and wellbeing, education and skills and children and young people.

Benefits for signing up as a Rovers Runner include free race entry, a Rovers Runner branded vest and a race medal.

Ryan Loftus, events, partnerships and facilities manager at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, said: “We’re delighted we are once again playing an important role in this year’s Blackburn 10k and offering people the opportunity to join Rovers Runners.

“Seeing people from across the community come together on the day will be hugely rewarding. Every runner who takes part and raises money will help us continue delivering important programmes locally, supporting the aims of the Premier League Fans Fund.”

Matt Wood, co-founder of RunThrough, added: “The Blackburn 10K is always particularly special to me.

"Blackburn is my hometown and the route takes runners along streets that I grew up running on myself.

“Working alongside Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and Blackburn with Darwen Council, we have created an event that celebrates the very best of the town while encouraging people of all ages and abilities to prioritise their health and wellbeing.

“It is hugely inspiring to see thousands of people come together each year, from those taking on their first 10k to experienced runners chasing a new challenge.

“We are proud of the positive impact the event has within the community, as well as the strong partnerships that help make it such a success year after year.”
