A village deli and store in Hoddlesden has issued a statement as it prepares to close its doors temporarily.

Hoddlesden Deli & Village Store, located in Queen’s Square, will close from the start of November as the current owners step down after seven years.

The shop is set to reopen under new ownership later this year following renovations, but it is not yet known exactly when this will be.

A spokesperson said: "It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the village shop and deli with effect from November 1.

"But don't worry, as it will hopefully be reopened before Christmas once the renovations have been done.

"I want to say a massive thank you to my staff, old and present, for all your amazing hard work and for going above and beyond.

"And also a massive thank you to all our customers, old and new, who have supported us since 2019.

"But it is time for a new beginning, and I'm sure wonderful things are to come.

"The new owners will keep you all updated on the opening day.

"All other businesses in the building are unaffected and will carry on as normal."

Customers have shared messages of thanks and well wishes since the announcement.

One said: "I wish you all the very best for the future, good luck and good health."

Another said: "Really sad to hear this news.

"All the very best for the future in whatever you do and thanks for your great service."

Another said: "Thank you for all your hard work, kindness and care—you’ve been a real lifeline to our community.

"You’ll be greatly missed, and we wish you all the very best."

It is not yet known who the new owners or when they will reopen the store. The shop has been approached for confirmation.
