Crabtree Street, Guilford Street, and Rear 2 to 40 Montague Street in Brierfield are now closed until Friday, November 6, as part of a new order from Lancashire County Council.
The closures mean traffic is being diverted away from these streets, with signs in place to direct drivers along alternative routes.
The affected stretches of road are Crabtree Street from Burnley Road to Church Street, Guilford Street from Burnley Road to Rear 16-32 Ross Street, and the back of Montague Street from Burnley Road to the rear of number 6 Montague Street.
The Lancashire County Council order started at 7.30am on Monday, October 5, and will remain in place until 4.30pm on November 6, or until the work is finished.
This is to allow for improvements to the roads and pavements.
Access for residents is being maintained whenever possible, and emergency services can still get through.
People on foot can still access properties at all times.
Anyone working on the improvements is exempt from the order.
The county council has stated that the temporary closures are necessary for the upgrades to be completed.
