Lancaster Christmas Market will return to Lancaster Brewery this winter, bringing more than 40 independent traders, festive entertainment and a packed weekend of Christmas celebrations.

The free-entry event will take place from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29, transforming the Lancaster Brewery site into a festive market featuring local producers, artisan food and drink, handmade gifts and seasonal treats.

Organisers say visitors can expect a carefully curated line-up of independent traders selling everything from homeware and clothing to decorations, sweet treats, trinkets and stocking fillers.

Alongside the shopping, a programme of live entertainment is planned throughout the weekend.

Visitors will be able to meet Santa, enjoy performances from local choirs and an Oompah band, and watch sets by local favourites The Beets, including their interactive live jukebox performances.

Street food vendors and bars will also be on site, allowing visitors to make a full day or evening of the event.

The market opens on Lancashire Day, with the Friday evening launch celebrating independent businesses, makers, producers and performers from Lancaster, Lancashire and across the North West.

Beyond Radio will broadcast live from the market on the opening day, featuring interviews and coverage from around the event.

Visitors will also be among the first to try a new cream liqueur being launched by event sponsor Lancaster Spirits Co.

The new 17% ABV drink combines a plant-based cream with the company's own single malt spirit and will be available in 50cl bottles ahead of the Christmas season.

Gemma Carradice, of Lancaster Brewery, said: "We really want Lancaster Christmas Market to feel like the start of Christmas in the city.

"Of course, there will be loads to browse and buy, but we want people to come down for the whole experience, grab some food, have a drink, listen to some live music, see Santa and discover some brilliant independent businesses while they're here.

"We've got a fantastic mix of traders joining us this year, from local food and drink producers to makers and independent businesses selling genuinely lovely things to eat, drink, take home or put under the tree.

"Add in local choirs, an Oompah band, The Beets, Santa and plenty more happening across the weekend, and there should be something going on whenever you visit.

"Opening on Lancashire Day feels particularly appropriate too. We're incredibly proud of the businesses and talent we have locally, and this is a chance to put lots of them in one place and give people another reason to shop independent this Christmas."

The market is also being supported by Junction 36 Exhibition Centre.

Opening times are 3pm to 8pm on Friday, November 27, noon to 8pm on Saturday, November 28 and noon to 6pm on Sunday, November 29.

The event takes place at Lancaster Brewery, Lancaster Leisure Park, Wyresdale Road, Lancaster.

Organisers have confirmed that, unlike previous years, a free shuttle bus service will not operate.

Additional parking will instead be available at Lancaster Auction Mart, while visitors are being encouraged to use public transport or walk where possible.
