A national pub chain is looking for a ‘Chief Doggie Treat Tester’ to help launch their new canine menu.
Vintage Inns, which runs pubs across the UK, has opened applications for the new role as part of its latest dog-friendly offering.
Dog owners are invited to submit a photo and a short 50 to 100-word entry explaining why their dog should take on the tasty new job.
Vintage Inns own and operate The Sandpiper in Ormskirk and The Walton Fox in Preston.
Linda Elliott, operations director at Vintage Inns, said: "Finding Britain's Chief Doggie Treat Tester is certainly not a job we recruit for everyday."
"We’re delighted to be partnering with Canine Menu to bring the range to Vintage Inns pubs up and down the country.
"We know that for many of our guests, their dogs are an important part of the family, so we wanted to create something that means they don’t have to miss out when enjoying a meal or drink together.
"The Chief Doggie Treat Tester competition is a fun way to celebrate the launch and find a four-legged expert who can help us put the menu through its paces."
A judging panel made up of representatives from Vintage Inns and Canine Menu will select a shortlist of top candidates.
Three regional finalists will then go head-to-head in a public vote on Vintage Inns’ Instagram and Facebook pages.
The winning dog will be crowned Chief Doggie Treat Tester for a year and will receive a prize package including a professional photoshoot with their owner, a printed photograph, a £100 Vintage Inns gift card, and a hamper of treats from the Canine Menu worth £100.
Judges will be looking for dogs with personality, treat-testing enthusiasm, and camera-ready charm, as the winner will represent the brand both on and off the lead.
Applications are now open via the Vintage Inns website and will close at midnight on Monday, October 26.
