A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after an incident in Accrington today (October 2).

Police were called to Slaidburn Drive just before 1pm on Friday, October 2, following reports of a crash involving two cars and an altercation involving a group of men.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital suffering from a puncture wound to the leg. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Parents from nearby Mount Carmel High School said warning texts have been sent to them regarding an incident. 

A police spokesperson and said: "We were called at just before 1pm today (Friday, Oct 2nd) to a report of a public order incident on Slaidburn Drive in Accrington.

"It was reported that two cars had collided and that a group of men had been involved in an altercation.

"A man in his 20s was taken to hospital suffering from a puncture wound to the leg. His injuries are thankfully not life-threatening.

"An investigation is underway, and enquiries are ongoing.

"Officers will be in the area over the next day or so as part of our enquiries. You can approach them if you have any information or concerns.

Police are appealing for information and have asked anyone who can assist with the investigation to contact them on 101, quoting log 0651 of October 2.
