Preston is preparing to kick off the festive season with a packed Christmas programme.
Preston’s Harris Quarter will be transformed this year, with the popular Christmas lights switch-on, an ice rink, and a pantomime production of Cinderella.
Cllr Anna Hindle, Cabinet Member of Culture and Arts at Preston City Council, said: "We’re really looking forward to bringing Christmas to Preston this year.
"There’s a fantastic mix of experiences on offer, and we want to give people plenty of reasons to visit Preston.
"Whether you’re looking for entertainment, skating, eating, exploring or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, there's something for everyone this Christmas in Preston."
Festivities will begin with the Christmas lights switch-on at the Flag Market on Saturday, November 21, organised by Preston BID and Smooth Radio North West.
The event is set to feature special guests and live performances, drawing crowds to mark the official start of the city’s seasonal celebrations.
A new addition to this year’s line-up is Preston On Ice in association with SpudBros, a winter experience on the Flag Market running from Friday, December 4 to Thursday, January 3.
Visitors can enjoy a real ice rink, fairground rides, games, festive food and drink, and a visit from Father Christmas.
Mark Whittle of Preston BID said: "Christmas is one of the most important times of the year for our city centre businesses, but it’s about much more than trading.
"It’s also a time when communities come together, people spend time with family and friends, and the city centre really comes alive."
Mr Whittle added: "And while online shopping has its place, this Christmas we’d encourage people to ‘ditch their devices’, head into the city centre and support the local businesses that make Preston what it is.
"Come in, enjoy the lights, do your Christmas shopping, grab a bite to eat and make a day of it."
For those seeking traditional entertainment, Initiate Theatre's production of Cinderella will run at The Guild Lounge from Wednesday, December 16 to Thursday, December 31.
