A charity is supporting more than 200 people each week with vital services.

Veterans In Communities (VIC), based in Haslingden, announced the figures at its recent annual general meeting, where it also reported welcoming more than 120 new members this year.

Amanda Walton, chief executive officer, said: "Behind every referral and every visit is an individual.

"A family and a unique story.

"We don’t provide a one-size-fits-all approach – every case is different."

The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Liz McInnes, who praised the charity’s work.

Cllr McInnes said: "VIC do amazing work supporting veterans and their families.

"None of this would be possible without the volunteers, my grateful thanks to them for all they do to help ex-service personnel to belong and prosper in their Communities across the North West."

Major events over the year included a 260-mile cycle ride from the Cenotaph in London to Haslingden.

Other events included the Rossendale Walk of Remembrance, choir performances, fishing events and community fundraising.

VIC also supported commemorations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

The charity’s programme includes breakfast clubs, a model railway club, and equine scentwork sessions.
