A nature-themed Halloween experience is coming to Martin Mere this October half-term.

The 'Super Natural' event, designed especially for younger children, promises a scare-free adventure through wetlands, wildlife and autumn folklore.

Running from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, November 1, the event will take place at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) Martin Mere Wetland Centre in Burscough.

A spokesperson for WWT Martin Mere said: "Families can swap the spooky for a SUPER Natural Halloween adventure at WWT Martin Mere this October half term.

"This unmissable week-long event invites families to discover the wonders, wildlife and folklore of wetlands through a programme of hands-on activities and seasonal fun."

Visitors will receive a Super Natural logbook to guide them on a self-led journey through nature-inspired activities and autumn wildlife discoveries.

Each day from 12pm to 3pm, activities will take place in the Mere Tun Viking Village, including willow wand-making, marshland potion-mixing and owl pellet-examining.

Guests can also join a fungi hunt and step into a fairy mushroom ring.

The spokesperson said: "SUPER Natural offers a scare-free way to celebrate Halloween, encouraging families to get outdoors, explore nature and uncover the nature-bursting and mood-boosting superpowers of wetlands."

The event is included in the standard admission price and is free for WWT members.

Additional paid activities will also be available, including pumpkin carving and a mystical canoe ride.

WWT Wetland Centres aim to reconnect people with nature through immersive, seasonal experiences that highlight the value and beauty of wetlands.
