A popular Carnforth pub has entered liquidation, according to documents filed at Companies House.

Temprol Enterprise Carnforth Ltd, which traded as The Canal Turn on Lancaster Road, entered a creditors' voluntary liquidation with insolvency practitioner Sam Shepherd appointed as liquidator on September 7.

The company's registered office is listed as Aston Road North, Birmingham, while its principal trading address is given as Lancaster Road, Carnforth, LA5 9EA.

The business operated The Canal Turn pub and restaurant.

Documents lodged with Companies House state that a meeting of the company resolved that it could not continue its business because of its liabilities and that it was "advisable to wind up the same accordingly".

Sam Shepherd, of LBK Insolvency Solutions Limited, was subsequently appointed liquidator.

A statement of affairs prepared as of August 26, 2026, shows estimated realisable assets of £6,617.53 and an overall estimated deficiency of £64,996.58.

The documents list HMRC as the largest creditor, with VAT liabilities of £53,674.13 and PAYE/NIC liabilities of £188.20.

Other listed creditors include banks and financial institutions, trade and expense creditors, a connected company and director loan accounts.

The statement of creditors accompanying the filing records total debts of £71,612.11.

Asked to comment on the liquidation, liquidator Sam Shepherd told the Lancashire Telegraph they were not able to provide any comment in relation to the liquidation.

Despite the liquidation, the venue is continuing to trade.

In a Facebook post published on Tuesday, The Canal Turn said: "We're pleased to say that all the maintenance work is now complete and our kitchen is back OPEN AS NORMAL!

"Kitchen open 12pm-8pm.

"Thank you so much for your patience while the work was being carried out.

We're looking forward to welcoming you back for some delicious food!"

The Canal Turn's website also remained live at the time of writing.

Creditors' voluntary liquidation is a process initiated when the directors and shareholders of an insolvent company decide it should be wound up, with a licensed insolvency practitioner appointed to deal with its affairs and assets.

The liquidation was approved by members and creditors on September 7, according to the Companies House filings.

The Canal Turn has been approached for comment.
