A man has been charged as police investigate an alleged assault in Chorley.

Police were called to New Market Street at around 5am on Saturday, September 26.

A 19-year-old man was reportedly punched and suffered a head injury.

A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday and has now been charged.

Jason Bolton, of Fusiliers Close, Chorley, is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court today (September 30) charged with section 20 wounding without intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A police spokesperson said: "We asked for your help earlier this week to identify a man we wanted to speak to as part of our enquiries into an [alleged] assault in Chorley.

"As a reminder, a 19-year-old man suffered a head injury after [allegedly] being punched on New Market Street around 5am on Saturday.

"A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday and has now been charged.

"Jason Bolton, of Fusiliers Close, Chorley, was due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court today, charged with Section 20 wounding without intent."
