A woman will stand trial after denying causing the death of a man by careless driving.

Amy Birkett, 31, appeared at Burnley Crown Court on Tuesday (September 29) charged with one count of causing death by carless/inconsiderate driving.

The charge alleges that Birkett caused the death of Anthony Shaw in Bleara Road, Earby, close to the border with North Yorkshire, in February 2025.

Birkett, of Ogle Street, Hucknall, Nottingham, entered a not guilty plea.

A further case management hearing was scheduled for January 18, 2027.

A pre-trial review will take place on January 21, 2028, ahead of a four-day trial on March 6, 2028.

Birkett was released on bail.
