Dozens of Lancashire pubs have been recognised in the latest edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2027.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has released the list for the 54th edition of its annual guide, which highlights over 4,500 of the best real ale pubs across the UK and includes a selection of outstanding venues from Lancashire.
Among those featured is The Rising Sun in Blackburn, a late-Victorian pub located on Whalley New Road.
The Good Beer Guide, fully revised each year, is compiled based on independent evaluations by CAMRA members and is considered the UK’s definitive resource for finding quality real ale pubs.
It also includes a comprehensive listing of 1,700 breweries and 5,000 beers, along with information about brewery taprooms.
Each pub entry in the guide includes details about the beers on offer, facilities, atmosphere, and events, giving readers a comprehensive overview of what to expect.
Here are just 10 East Lancashire pubs listed in the Good Beer Guide 2027:
Arden Inn, Abbey Street, Accrington
Camra describe the pub as: "A traditional corner inn at the gateway to Accrington’s historic town centre with a pleasant, at times boisterous,
atmosphere, offering everything you’d expect from a busy town centre pub.
"It has ornate windows and a number of separate drinking areas, a pool table and dartboard. Live music features throughout the weekend."
A spokesperson said: "We’re absolutely chuffed to be included in the Good Beer Guide 2027!
"At the Arden Inn, we believe a cracking pint and live music go hand in hand! With four live acts a week, one permanent hand-pulled bitter, two changing guest ales from across the country and the occasional real cider, we’re keeping the proper pub alive."
Drummer’s Arms, King William Street, Blackburn
In the guide, it is described as "Single-roomed bar opposite the town hall in the main shopping area. The walls are adorned with breweriana
and old pub signs.
"Occasional live music features at weekends including a legendary open mic session on the first Sunday of the month. At other times expect a range of unobtrusive background music. A full range of beer styles is always offered."
Rising Sun, Whalley New Road, Blackburn
The guide describes this pub as "a small public bar and larger
open-plan lounge areas are served from a central bar".
A spokesperson for The Rising Sun said: “We are extremely proud, and extremely passionate about the beers we serve, and in addition to our 5 Star Cask Marque accreditation, we are also delighted to be included in CAMRA'S Good Beer Guide 2027!
“Cask Ale Week coincides with our fifth annual mod weekend this weekend, a 3-day celebration of live music, so if great beer and great music is your thing, we look forward to seeing you soon!”
Craven Heifer, Briercliffe Road, Briercliffe
It is described as "an imposing roadside inn in the Briercliffe area of
Burnley.
"This large traditional local pub is immaculately presented and, although opened out inside, retains distinct drinking areas. Four handpumps serve beers from local breweries including Bank Top, Bowland and Reedley Hallows."
A spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be included in the good beer guide again. It gives recognition not onto us as a small local pub, but also all the local microbreweries, by us selling their excellent cask products.
"Our team work hard to ensure we provide the quality customers expect."
Old England Forever, Church Street, Clayton-le-Moors
A spokesperson for CAMRA said: "Comfortable Edwardian terraced pub serving a large range of Bank Top beers. A single-roomed establishment with defined bar and lounge areas, it sits just off Barnes Square and is easily reached from the towpath of the
Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
"A section of glass flooring in front of the bar provides views into the cellar."
Ale House, Market Place, Clitheroe
CAMRA describe this as "an established favourite on Clitheroe’s beer scene" with "rustic charm".
Bowland Beer Hall, Greenacre Street, Clitheroe
Bowland Pheasant Plucker, Gold, Boxer Blonde, Buster IPA, Hen Harrier and Deer Stalker are some of the drinks on rotation here.
CAMRA said: "Situated in a former mill dating back to the 19th century, the enormously popular Beer Hall is a major part of Clitheroe’s thriving beer scene.
"With more than 30 handpulls on the bar, you will find all of Bowland’s beers as well as around 12 guests."
