A 21-year-old man has been arrested as police investigate a disturbance in Burnley.

The incident was reported at around 9.50pm on Saturday, September 19, on Devonshire Road following a crash involving two cars.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a firearm. He remains in custody.

Police say this is being treated as an isolated incident and that the investigation is ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: "We want to let you know about an incident from over the weekend, and ask for your help.

"At around 9.50pm on Saturday, we were made aware of a disturbance, reported to have happened after two cars collided with each other on Devonshire Road, Burnley.

"A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a firearm. He remains in custody.

"We want to make it clear that this is being treated as an isolated incident, and there is no wider risk to the public, but you will see our officers out and about in the area carrying out enquiries and reassurance patrols as a precaution.

"An investigation is in its early stages and we have a number of enquiries ongoing. We now need to ask for your help. If you have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the area that may be able to assist with our enquiries, or if you have any information, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, that could help us, we would be very keen to speak to you.
