Police have shared a further update following a stabbing in Darwen over the weekend.
The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Church Street.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was given first aid and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
On Monday, police said enquiries were ongoing, and the victim remained stable in hospital.
No arrests have been made, and there were calls for people not to speculate over what had happened.
Cllr Matthew Jackson said his thoughts were with the victim at this time.
He said: “This kind of thing does not happen in Darwen very often.
“I think it is sad and people are understandably shocked.
“Without going into much about the reasoning behind the incident, a person has suffered serious injuries.
“People do jump to conclusions about Darwen when things like this happen. I speak to the police regularly, and they are keen to support the local community."
Councillor Anthony Shaw said: “I would ask people not to share videos or speculate. Darwen should be a safe town for everybody and where people can go out without worry.
“We will do what we can to support police in tackling the scourge of knife crime."
Darwen has a busy nightlife, with people regularly visiting the town's bars and venues.
A man who runs a business nearby said: “We are obviously really shocked at what happened.
“People are genuinely friendly and want a good night out.
“Darwen has a busy nightlife and on the whole people are really good and things like this don’t happen.
“I think a lot of people were concerned about what happened.”
Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting log 0220 of September 20.
