The following cases were heard at magistrates' courts in East Lancashire across September 14, 15, 16, and 17.
September 14
Tania Derbyshire, 28, of Beryl Avenue, Blackburn, was jailed for 10 weeks for assaulting a man.
She was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
Derbyshire is already serving a custodial sentence after being jailed in August.
September 15
Khizer Usman, 21, of March Street, Burnley, was fined £500 at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
The drugs were forfeited and destroyed, and Usman was further ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £200 surcharge.
John McNamara, 58, of Pennine Road, Bacup, was given a community order by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for an act of outraging public decency.
McNamara exposed his penis and urinated in a corridor in view of hospital staff and members of the public, and also made inappropriate comments and gestures towards nurses, on March 2 of this year.
He was ordered to pay £300 compensation, £85 costs, and a £114 surcharge. He must complete a six-month alcohol treatment programme and 20 rehabilitation days.
Joshua Varey, 36, of Blascomay Square, Colne, was disqualified from driving for six months at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for driving without insurance.
No separate penalty was imposed for a further offence of driving without a licence, while two other assault offences were dismissed.
David Smith, 51, of Lancaster Court, Chorley, was fined £377 at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for assaulting a woman in Darwen.
Smith pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened on April 21 of this year. He was also ordered to pay costs of £150 and a surcharge of £65.
Nicholas Magee, 29, of Manchester Road, Haslingden, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for breaching a non-molestation order.
Between April 24 and 29, Magee contacted the victim via text messages, which he was prohibited from doing by a non-molestation order imposed on September 9, 2025.
He was ordered to pay costs of £650 and a surcharge of £154.
Lucas Swarbrick, 34, of Roebuck Close, Blackburn, was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months at Burnley Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to common assault and using threatening/abusive/insulting words.
Swarbrick assaulted a man in Blackburn on October 23 last year and use threatening/abusive/insulting words towards him.
He was also ordered to complete a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement and up to 20 rehabilitation days, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
Leon Jewell, 25, of Jim Smart Way, Colne, was given a one-year community order at Burnley Magistrates’ Court for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Jewell was required to provide a specimen of blood on February 11 in Colne bit failed to do so.
He was disqualified from driving for 34 months and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Jordan King, 29, of Comet Street, Weir, was fined £392 by Burnley Magistrates’ Court for failing to stop after a road accident in Barnoldswick on July 19 last year.
King pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay a £157 surcharge and £85 costs. His licence was endorsed with seven points.
Miles Parris, 23, of Old Stone Trough Lane, Kelbrook, was sentenced to 12 months in prison suspended for 18 months for dangerously driving a Range Rover in Barnoldswick on February 22 last year.
Parris was also ordered to abstain from alcohol by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for a period of 120 days and complete 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was ordered to pay compensation of £500, costs of £650, and a surcharge of £187.
Asif Mahmood, 41, of Edgworth Grove, Burnley, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months by Burnley Magistrates’ Court for assaulting a man.
Mahmood pleaded guilty and was also fined £239 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
September 16
Fiona Fairhurst, 41, of Coronation Avenue, Padiham, was fined £200 by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for failing to comply with a community protection notice.
Fairhurst was located at an address in Padiham which she was not to enter as a condition of the notice.
She was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £80 and costs of £85.
Ryan Parker, 24, of Whalley Road, Accrington, was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for 12 months at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for threatening a person with a shard of glass at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Parker made threats to several staff members putting them in fear and distress.
He was ordered to pay £100 compensation.
Lauren Davidson, 37, of Linden Crescent, Darwen, was given a one-year community order by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for theft and fraud.
Davidson stole a man’s wallet and took cash from inside before going on to spend money on a bank card.
She was ordered to abstain from alcohol for 120 days.
David Tucker, 56, of Canterbury Street, Blackburn, was fined £120 at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for using abusive words relating to someone’s sexual orientation.
Tucker pleaded guilty to the incident which happened on July 31.
Ross Atherton, 38, of Gifford Way, Darwen, was disqualified from driving for 17 months for drink driving on Grane Road.
Atherton had 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, just over double the limit, when he was stopped on August 9.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
Gabriella Ferguson, 47, of Bridge Houses, Accrington, was disqualified from driving for 20 months for drink driving on Manchester Road, Baxenden.
Ferguson had 76 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system, just over double the limit, when she was stopped on August 16.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also fined her £231 and she was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £92 surcharge.
Charlie Woodcock, 32, of Shear Brow, Blackburn, was given an 18-month conditional discharge for two offences of shoplifting.
Woodcock stole seven pairs of sunglasses from TK Maxx across two different dates in July, and stole four pairs of shoes from the same store.
He was ordered to pay £215 in compensation.
Sean Lowe, 41, of Kirkstone Avenue, Blackburn, was disqualified from driving for 17 months for drink driving on Hancock Street, Blackburn.
Lowe had 78 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, just over double the limit, when he was stopped on August 16.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
Andrew Ratcliffe, 45, of Dale Close, Burnley, was fined £80 for cultivating cannabis.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the plants.
Tyrone Maybin, 30, of Sherwood Way, Accrington, was disqualified from driving for 17 months for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Maybin was required to provide a blood sample on August 2 but failed to do so.
He was also fined £384 by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
Mohammed Uddin, 35, of Logwood Street, Blackburn, was fined £80 by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for possessing cannabis.
The court ordered the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed, and Uddin was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.
Courtney Basterfield, 28, of Healey Mount, Burnley, was fined £120 for drug driving on Crown Point Road, Burnley.
Basterfield had 39 microgrammes of cocaine per 100ml of blood in her system when stopped on March 7 of this year.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court ordered her to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £48. Her licence was also endorsed with 10 penalty points.
Michal Rajko, 45, of Cleveleys Road, Blackburn, was given a one-year community order and was banned from driving for 17 months for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Rajko was required to provide a blood sample on August 9 but failed to do so.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also ordered him to complete 80 hours of unpaid work, and pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
Aaron Fletchman, 19, of Ballantrae Road, Blackburn, was fined £120 by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for driving whilst disqualified.
Fletchman pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on Grimshaw Park on May 15 and his licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
Aaron Worthington, 31, of Bow Wood Close, Chorley, was banned from driving for three years for drink-driving on Summer Street, Nelson on August 15.
Worthington had 59 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
He was fined £250 by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty.
Muhammed Nurhiasen, 29, of Persia Street, Accrington, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months at Preston Magistrates’ Court for assaulting a police officer.
Nurhiasen was ordered to pay £100 in compensation after pleading guilty to the offence.
September 17
Robert Frankowski, 35, of no fixed address in Blackburn, was given a one-year community order for drink-driving.
Frankowski was stopped in Bolton Road, Blackburn, of June 27 and had 63 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, close to double the limit.
Frankowski pleaded guilty and was ordered to abstain from alcohol for 60 days, pay costs of £85, and pay a surcharge of £114.
Mohammed Patel, 38, of Revidge Road, Blackburn, was fined £80 for possession of cannabis.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court also ordered for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
Shakeel Ashraf, 43, of Belfield Road, Accrington, was banned from driving for 12 months at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for drug driving.
Ashraf was stopped by police on June 5 in Hyndburn Road, Accrington, and had 7.4 microgrammes of cannabis in his system.
He was also fined £323 and the cannabis was forfeited and destroyed.
Benjamin Roscoe, 21, of Ormerod Street, Rawtenstall, was banned from driving for 12 months at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for drug driving.
Roscoe was stopped by police on Fearns Moss, Bacup, on May 30 and was over the limit for cocaine.
He pleaded guilty and was also fined £80.
Hamza Zahid, 26, of Farrer Street, Nelson, was banned from driving for six months for drink driving.
Zahid was stopped on Barrowford Road, Colne, on May 5 with 109 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
He pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay a fine of £167, costs of £85, and a surcharge of £67.
Ikhlaq Hussain, 38, of Ormerod Street, Accrington, was banned from driving for six months for driving without insurance.
Hussain was stopped in Accrington on May 5, and was also fined £537 at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court.
Mohammed Ejaz, 21, of Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield, was banned from driving for 20 months at Preston Magistrates’ Court for drug driving.
Ejaz was stopped in Woodville Road, Brierfield, on May 27 and was over the limit for cannabis.
Ejaz pleaded guilty and was also fined £320.
Mohammed Latif, 48, of Carleton Street, Nelson, was given a two-year community order for driving whilst disqualified.
Latif was stopped in Chapel House Road, Nelson, on May 18.
He pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for 17 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court.
Louis Hall-Simper, 24, of Blackburn Road, Egerton, was disqualified from driving for three years for drink driving.
Hall-Simper was stopped in Whitewalls Drive, Colne, on August 21 and had 86 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, more than double the limit.
He pleaded guilty at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court and was fined £120, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £48.
Kimberley Ohoro, 54, of Brownhill Avenue, Burnley, was given an 18-month conditional discharge for an offence of shoplifting.
Ohoro stole £141 of skincare products from Boots in Burnley on January 28 and £120 in shampoo and shower gel from the same store on January 20.
She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £261 in compensation.
Hassan Liaqat, 21, of Accrington Road, Blackburn, was banned from driving for 17 months for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Liaqat was also fined £877 at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £381.
No separate penalty was imposed for an offence of speeding on the M65.
Matthew Walton, 21, of Noble Street, Rishton, was banned from driving for 12 months for drug driving.
Walton was stopped in Walmsley Street, Rishton, on 17 June and was over the limit for cannabis.
He pleaded guilty at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £48.
Mark Roper, 47, of Cromwell Street, Foulridge, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for assaulting a police officer.
Roper assaulted PC Neil Wruk in Colne on August 21.
He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge.
Adam Mansur, 37, of Denville Road, Blackburn, was jailed for 17 weeks for driving whilst disqualified.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court heard Mansur was driving on Livesey Branch Road shortly after the disqualification had been imposed.
He was banned from driving for four years and four months and was ordered to pay costs of £85.
Aiden Walsh, 37, of Thorne Street, Rawtenstall, was disqualified from driving for 22 months for drug driving.
Walsh was stopped on Padiham Road on October 9 last year and was over the limit for cocaine and cannabis.
He pleaded guilty at Burnley Magistrates’ Court and was fined £900.
George Connolly, 18, of Simonstone Road, Sabden, was banned from driving for 17 months at Burnley Magistrates’ Court for drug driving.
Connolly was stopped in Trafalgar Street, Burnley, on December 20 last year and was over the limit for Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine derivative.
He pleaded guilty and was also fined £180.
