A council has shared details for the funeral of a long-serving councillor who died last week.
Cllr David Parkins passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, aged 76.
After serving his country, Cllr Parkins served Hyndburn for three decades. He first won an election in 1994 to join his beloved wife, Maralyn, on the council, where he represented the people of Huncoat while working full-time in social care.
He went on to become Mayor in 2002 and was forever known as ‘Mr Huncoat’ for his services to the community.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 23 at 2.30pm at Accrington Crematorium.

Following the service, there will be a celebration of Dave’s life at Accrington Town Hall.
Hyndburn Council said: “Prior to the service, the funeral cortège will travel along the main route through Huncoat Village, giving the residents of Huncoat an opportunity to pay their respects and say goodbye to Dave.
“Members of the public are also warmly encouraged to line the route from Bolton Avenue through to the cemetery gates to show their support and pay their respects as the cortège passes.
“People are welcome to wear a hint of red in memory of Dave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huncoat Community Forum.
“Maralyn would like to thank everyone for their love, support and kind thoughts at this difficult time.”
