An arson attack at an Accrington DIY store saw stock valued at over £100,000 go up in flames in February 2004.

A large proportion of the first floor at Glynn-Webb on Blackburn Road was destroyed in the blaze which began around 6.15pm.

Staff and customers escaped via a rear exit as the blaze quickly took hold with two staff members requiring hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.

It would later emerge that the fire was started by a 10-year-old girl.

The blaze was the second to hit the store. In 1995 a fire which started in a rear store caused £1m in damage.
