Blackburn Rovers will be without Yuri Ribeiro for several weeks whilst Adam Forshaw is seeing a consultant about a hip injury.

Left-back Ribeiro suffered a hamstring injury against Millwall which will rule him out of Saturday's trip to Portsmouth and beyond. He will then be assessed after the international break.

The good news is that Ryan Alebiosu is fine after also coming off against the Lions, which was put down to illness.

Forshaw's absence is a little more of a concern. He wasn't in the matchday squad and requires more advice around a hip issue.

"Yuri is a no-go for a few weeks, definitely," Mowbray revealed.

"I don't know the exact timeframe; he definitely he won't be involved this weekend and obviously there's a three-week break, so some stage after that hopefully, he won't be too far away.

"Ryan's fine, right, he's training no problem. Forshaw is still an issue for us with his hip.

"I think he's got some consultation coming up and we'll let you know on that but at this point he won't be available for us in the short term anyway.

"It's a bit of a concern but I don't want to speculate sitting here today, so let's talk about it another day, I think."

Rovers won't have anyone new back for the trip to Fratton Park but Mowbray's squad is starting to look a lot healthier.

Hayden Carter started his first league game last weekend whilst Moussa Baradji was back on the bench for the first time too. Andri Gudjohnsen is fit after a full week of training and pushing to start.

The likes of Dion De Neve and Matty Litherland should be back after the international break too. They will assess how far away Yuki Ohashi and Mathias Jorgensen are during that period as well.

"It's great that Hayden's back in the picture," Mowbray said.

"It's good that Moussa is back in the picture too.

"We've got four today of kids from the academy who are still making the numbers up for us but it's still good to have a few more choices off the bench rather than the young academy kids, the first ones on the pitch.

"Moussa will be chomping at the bit to get out there and I'm excited by Moussa to be honest, how powerful he is and how technical he is. I am looking forward to getting him on the pitch.

"Gudjohnsen obviously came off the bench and scored a goal and looking good and training really well today.

"It's good that we've got choices; it's probably fair to say that we didn't have that over the last couple of weeks."
