Young Rovers right-back Theo Pitt has penned his first professional contract at Ewood Park.
The 17-year-old has signed a three-year deal which will keep him in East Lancashire until the summer of 2029.
Pitt has been in Rovers’ ranks since Under-13 level and was part of the Under-18 squad that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final last season.
He also helped the Under-17s reach the final of the Premier League Cup and made four appearances in Premier League 2 for the Under-21s.
Pitt spent time around the senior squad during pre-season and got some minutes under his belt in the friendly against Accrington Stanley.
He has also gained valuable experience on the international stage, representing Wales at Under-19 level.
“It’s a very special moment, as I’ve been working towards a pro contract ever since joining and growing up I always wanted to be a professional footballer, so it’s a special feeling,” Pitt told the club.
“To become a professional footballer is very rare, so to get that contract over the line and knowing I’m secure for the next few years and that I’m closer to the first team environment, it’s great.
“The opportunities that this club has given me to play up the age groups and how many first team opportunities this club gives to other Academy graduates, it makes it a special club for producing players.
“I want to keep pushing forward and continuing to grow. I had a little taste with the first team in pre-season and I want to try and be around them more, and hopefully make my Championship debut soon. That’s the goal really and then just push on from there.
“I dream of that day that I step out onto the pitch, which will prove that the club have put the right time and effort into the right player.”
