A funeral home is holding a special candle-lighting ceremony in memory of babies and children who have died.
The event will take place during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026 at Lumina Funerals in St Matthews Street, Burnley.
The Wave of Light gathering will be held on Thursday, October 15, offering a peaceful space for families to remember children lost during pregnancy, birth, or infancy.
A spokesperson for Lumina Funerals said: "Baby loss is something that is very close to our hearts as a family, so this evening means a great deal to us personally.
"When you have experienced that kind of loss yourself, you understand that remembrance does not have an expiry date.
"It might have happened weeks ago, years ago or decades ago, but that child remains part of a family’s story.
"We wanted to create somewhere people could come without any pressure or expectation.
"They can light a candle, write a name, sit quietly or talk if they want to.
"There is no right or wrong way to remember."
The event will begin at 6.30pm, with a candle lighting at 7pm as part of the global Wave of Light.
This international event sees families around the world light candles simultaneously in memory of babies who have died.
Attendees will be able to light a candle, write a name or message of remembrance, or simply spend time in quiet reflection among others who understand the significance of the occasion.
The event holds special meaning for the family behind Lumina Funerals.
Founder Sarah Bass was inspired to enter funeral care after the loss of her daughter, Susie, an experience that continues to shape the company’s compassionate approach, especially when supporting families facing the loss of a child.
Lumina Funerals was established as a small, independent funeral home with the goal of offering a less formal, more approachable environment for people during some of life’s most difficult moments.

The spokesperson said: "For us, this is not really about being a funeral director for the evening.
"It is about being part of the community and giving people a safe place to remember someone they love.
"Sometimes simply seeing a child’s name written down, or lighting a candle for them alongside other families, can mean more than people realise.
"Everyone is welcome.
"You do not need to have used Lumina, you do not need to know anybody here and you certainly do not need to explain your loss.
"You can just come."
Although this is one of Lumina’s first community events, the team hopes the Wave of Light gathering will become an annual tradition.
Refreshments will be served after the candle lighting, giving attendees the opportunity to talk, share memories, or simply spend time together.
The event is free, open to all, and does not require a prior connection to Lumina Funerals.
