A man has died on the tracks at Hapton railway station, British Transport Police have confirmed.
Officers were called to the station at 8.15pm yesterday, Sunday, September 6, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended; however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The force has confirmed it is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.
A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Hapton railway station at 8.13pm yesterday, September 6, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
National Rail shut the lines between Accrington and Rose Grove as a result of the incident, with trains cancelled between 8.15pm and the end of service.
