A long-running charity golf day in Blackburn has raised £3,325 for East Lancashire Hospice, taking the organiser’s fundraising total to more than £32,000.
Jim Wilson has held the annual golf day for 14 years, with this year’s event bringing together regular players, friends, local businesses and golf clubs in support of the Blackburn hospice.
The latest total means more than £32,000 has been raised through the golf day since it began in 2013.
Jim’s daughter, Kate Wilson, said the event, held at Blackburn Golf Club in Beardwood Brow, had become a popular fixture for many of those who take part.
“The golf day has been running for 14 years now, and some players have played every year since it started,” she said.
"It is such a fun day, with old friends catching up for a good cause.”
Kate said the support from the local community helped make the fundraiser possible each year, with raffle prizes donated by club members, businesses and other golf clubs.
“We never have a shortage of raffle prizes, with the members, local businesses, and other local golf clubs always being so generous,” she said.

She added that the family had supported the hospice for many years through a range of events, including quizzes, themed evenings, and fashion shows.
East Lancashire Hospice thanked Jim and everyone involved in the golf day for their continued support.
Jackie Morris from the hospice said: “East Lancashire Hospice heavily relies on the support from the community to enable us to continue providing our services to the people of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
“We are extremely grateful to people like Jim Wilson, who organise events to raise money.
"This money is used to provide palliative and end-of-life services, as well as wellbeing support to our patients and their friends and family.”
East Lancashire Hospice provides specialist care and support for adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers, across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, and the Ribble Valley.
Its services include inpatient care, Hospice at Home and wellbeing support, with fundraising essential to keeping services free for patients.
