A former Post Office in Brinscall could be set to reopen as a shop and apartments if new plans are approved.
The former Post Office, in School Lane, closed on December 30 after the postmaster stepped down.
Plans now under consideration by Chorley Council propose converting the ground floor into a village shop with an off-licence, while the upper floor would be turned into two self-contained flats.
Mr Manni Singh submitted the plans on August 25, and they are yet to be approved or rejected.
When the Post Office closed, it left nearby villages including Wheelton, Withnell, Abbey Village, and Heapey without postal services for months.
Chorley councillor Jenny Whiffen said: "For months, residents of Brinscall, Wheelton, Withnell, Abbey Village, Heapey and surrounding villages have been without essential local Post Office services.
"Due to ill health, the Wheelton pop-up Post Office has been closed since late 2025."
Post Office Ltd confirmed the Brinscall branch would not be replaced following a network review.

A spokesperson said: "We are writing to inform you that, regrettably, following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, the above branch will be closing.
"When a Post Office branch closes, such as through postmaster resignation, Post Office undertake a comprehensive review of the network to ensure that it continues to meet evolving customer needs in a very challenging economic climate.
"This review examined the network at a very detailed, local level, analysing customer demand and accessibility of Post Office services.
"Consequently, we are not looking to replace Brinscall Post Office at this time."
A petition to reinstate services gathered 1,200 signatures.
