Pubs are giving away £10,000 in cash to mark the football season's return.

The Sunday Social £10k Giveaway, sponsored by Sky, is offering fans the chance to win cash every Sunday until September 20.

The giveaway, involving community pubs across the North West, including Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, Darwen, and Preston, aims to recreate the match-day atmosphere.

The game is straightforward: the first 100 eligible adults arriving from 3pm will receive a raffle ticket.

Spectators can then enjoy the late Sunday fixture, eagerly awaiting the live announcement to see if their pub has been selected for this week's giveaway.

If chosen, a draw will occur within 15 minutes of the final whistle.

The winner, who must be present at the pub, will walk away with £1,000 in cash.

During the August bank holiday weekend, five lucky individuals bagged the £1,000 prize.

They were Matt Read at the Long Pull in Wrexham, Derek Jameson at the Sutton Arms in Bransholme, Ian Collinson at the Mitre Hotel in Chorley, James Lee at the Blue Bell in Felling, and Emily Kemp at the United Kingdom Inn in Willenhall.

Even if a pub is not picked for the main cash prize, a raffle will still be held to award a free drink to a lucky local.

The participating pubs are part of Proper Pubs, the community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Listed among the participating pubs from the North West are the Vic in Blackburn, the Corner House in Blackpool, the Royal Butterfly in Burnley, the Entwistle Hotel in Darwen, and the Gamull, Lancaster Gate, Plungington and Ribble Lodge in Preston.

The giveaway is sponsored by Sky.

This initiative is set to run every Sunday until September 20.
