A former bank in Rawtenstall is set to reopen as a Specsavers store later this month, bringing more eye and hearing care to the community.

The new branch will open on Saturday, September 26, in Bank Street, in the former Santander bank building, which closed on July 15, 2025.

The site is being refurbished to house the new Specsavers Opticians following its period of vacancy.

A Specsavers spokesperson said: "Work is now underway. Specsavers Rawtenstall is opening on September 26.

"We are looking forward to opening our doors with you all.

"Full details of our opening day will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

"Keep your eyes peeled.

"We have lots going on for the whole family to celebrate our open day, so please come along and say hello and help make the day one to remember.

"We're excited to welcome the Rawtenstall community for a fun-filled day of celebration, activities, and special experiences."

Visitors will be able to meet the team, explore eyewear collections, and book eye and hearing tests.

The day will also include family-friendly events as part of the celebrations.

Planning documents confirm that the building was a vacant retail unit at the time of the application.

The plans included the installation of 11 AC condenser units in the rear access yard, replacing existing equipment as part of the refurbishment.
