Blackburn sweet brothers team up with 32 businesses

The family-run pick ’n’ mix venture, founded by brothers Logan and Barkley Hughes, is inviting more businesses to join the appeal through £50 or £100 donations, with every penny going to the hospice.

Sweet Bros previously raised a record £58,000 for East Lancashire Hospice and has grown from a local venture into a business stocked in 30 shops across the UK.

The brothers have also used the business to support a school foodbank, as well as taking their sweets to major events.

Businesses which have already backed the latest fundraiser include Stimz, Feni Rec Bar and Cafe, Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors, Geek Retreat Blackburn, Fonezone, Edisford Bridge Country Pub, The Tater Hut, The Holiday Shop Blackburn, Blackburn Youth Darts Academy, Glow and Go Blackburn, and The Ivy Hotel.

Those who donate will have their logo included on Sweet Bros flyers, which are added to orders and distributed locally.

They will also receive promotion across the business’s social media pages.

A Sweet Bros post said: “Nearly £3,000 raised already and we’re not stopping there.

“We now have 32 amazing local businesses teaming up with Sweet Bros to support East Lancashire Hospice.”

The hospice provides care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, and the Ribble Valley.

It relies on community fundraising to raise more than £4.5m each year, receiving around a third of its funding from the government.
