Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported being sexually assaulted inside a Blackpool town centre bar.

Lancashire Police said officers were flagged down outside Fubar's Rum Bar on the Promenade during the early hours of Sunday morning after door staff received a report of a sexual assault inside the venue.

The incident was reported to have happened at around 1.10am.

Police said the suspect was described as a mixed-race man in his 30s wearing a black T-shirt and blue denim jeans.

He was also reported to speak with an English accent.

A 36-year-old man from Preston was later arrested in Queen Street, near Outside Man Bar, on suspicion of sexual assault and common assault.

He has since been bailed while police enquiries continue.

Lancashire Police are now appealing for witnesses and footage from anyone who was in the bar at the time.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We know there will have been a lot of people within the bar who we may not have yet spoken to.

“If you can assist our enquiries, please call 101 quoting log 1705 of August 22.”
