The East Lancashire Hospitals Choir is appealing for new members.

The choir will resume rehearsals on September 2 at 7.30pm in the Auditorium at Blackburn Royal Hospital.

It has been running for decades and welcomes both current and former health service staff as well as members of the public.

Eric Millest, conductor of the choir, said: "It is fantastic to be a part of a large choir that performs in such a prestigious venue as the Bridgewater Hall and to make such a charitable contribution to society, but it is also very fulfilling to enjoy the music-making and social contact that comes from our local rehearsals and concerts.

"We only function from September to December each year, with members often supporting other choirs at other times, and we like to invite new members to consider joining us each time we restart each September."

Each year, the choir performs a carol concert with the North West Hospital Choir in the Bridgewater Hall, raising thousands of pounds for the Young Lives vs Cancer charity.

The group also performs Christmas concerts locally and last year supported the ELHT&me charity.
